Lost Girls

Lost Girls traces the fate of more than 15,000 Albanian girls and women who disappeared between Albania and Italy from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. Deceived by traffickers with false promises of marriage or a better life abroad, women were forced into prostitution against their will. Poorly understood in Italy and rarely discussed in Albania due to enduring shame and patriarchal norms, this underreported phenomenon continues today, albeit in different forms, following shifting migratory patterns towards the United Kingdom.
